  • I am BlerdNation because...

Started with Moms taking me and my sibs to 2 and 3 movies in a weekend when we were younger (a habit in-which I have been unable to shake). I still love reading comic books, watching Anime, watching Sci-fi TV shows and films (actually all films pretty much), talking tech & gadgets, wearing geek'd out Tees and playing video games.I don't fit in anywhere else so I figured BlerdNation could take me in! :)

  • Who is your blerd role model? Why?

General Colin Powell. Being ex-military, General Powell was someone I looked to and greatly admired and still do till this day. He is smart, intelligent and tactful and someone I aspire to be like in my everyday life.

  • How do you stay connected to other blerds?

I tend to frequent Facebook more than any other channel, tho' I spread the love as evenly as I can between FB, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. I also frequent Reddit and Youtube as well... Aside from that the majority of my time is spent blogging and engaging with other bloggers as much as possible...

  • What’s your most awkward blerd moment?

Talkin' shop with my kids in public. I consider them 'undercover' Blerds, as they haven't fully embraced the truth they what they have is genetic and there is nothing they do about it. And, they don't take lightly to me talking comics, Anime or anything geek with them outside the confines of the house! Always a treat to watch their 'shock'd' reactions... :)

  • What’s your favorite word/phrase?

Geek'd. I even named my website after the term - 'Geek'd The Fug Out!" I use it everywhere...check out my new Geek'd out Tee? Or, I'm about to Geek out my iPad with this new App! Or, Dude....they totally Geek'd out Iron Man's new Mark V! :) you know....it works for whatever...

  • What are your goals/passions?

To become a successful blogger, social media master, and sci-fi film connoisseur. To help African-American youth and young adults recognize and realize their passion using technology, and help turn it into something fulfilling in their lives such as a career and profession or even as an entrepreneur.

  • What are you listening to, watching, or reading that impacts you or that is giving you a different perspective?

I read a lot of political books on Intelligence/espionage, Terrorism and U.S. Foreign Policy which give me a better than average understanding of the challenges this nation faces now and into the future. I also read a lot of books, both fiction & non-fiction on robotics such as Robopocalypse & Wired for War which gives me a different perspective on our use and development of technology, artificial intelligence and drones and dangers and implications of venturing too far...

  • Are there any famous, or not-so-famous, people that you think would be a great addition to BlerdNation?

Idris Alba. Although I am an ardent fan of 'Luther', after watching Pacific Rim and elevating that film to one of my all-time greats EVER, Idris would make a fine addition to Blerd Nation!! I think he's more GEEK/NERD than many believe!

  • What advice would you give to other blerds?

There's no shame in the Blerd game! Geeks, Nerds, whatever are back! Who wants to grow up anyways? :)

  • Passions

My goal is to be very active and involved in expanding young African American involvement in technology. Through example, advice, guidance and direct action. The first step in this venture starting with my up-and-coming blog - Black Digerati (Coming Soon).
